SPDC conducts social sector research, initiates policy dialogue through dissemination of research, and provides technical assistance and policy advice to the government. It also offers specialized training in economics, finance and planning and gender-mainstreaming. Besides research and policy analysis, SPDC has also been involved in various projects related to institutional development, project evaluation and capacity building where SPDC has worked closely with the government at various levels and has a vast experience of working with international agencies such as the World Bank, UNDP, UNICEF, Canadian International Development Agency, Asian Development Bank, DFID and the European Union Commission. With considerable experience of conducting field surveys using quantitative as well as qualitative techniques, SPDC undertook a variety of field assignments including monitoring and evaluation, third party validation, formative research, and organizational surveys. Internationally, it provided technical assistance to the Government of Eritrea in developing the capacity of the National Statistics and Evaluation Office, Eritrea for conducting Living Standards Measurement Survey.
SPDC is incrementally moving towards advocacy and has been holding interactive discussions on topical and emerging issues. For effective dissemination and outreach in a fast-paced communications environment, SPDC, continuously engages in the promotion and dissemination of SPDC research through media relations, stakeholder and policy maker engagement, event planning, publications and social media outreach, and innovative and effective methods for policy impact.
